How to Install a Paratrooper Watch Strap

Installing a Paratrooper strap doesn't need to be complicated. This guide walks through the installation method I use on my VALOR Standard Model 11, with reference diagrams for the hardware and alternate threading options. Start with the video, then use the illustrations to check your setup.

01 / Watch the installation

The short walkthrough shows how I position the buckle-hoop above the watch, loop the strap over my wrist, and fasten the clasp below the watch case.

02 / Orient the hardware

Before threading, identify the buckle-hoop and clasp. I prefer the hoop at the top of the watch and the clasp at the bottom. The following diagram shows the strap hardware and how it fits together.

03 / Thread the strap

With the strap oriented correctly, follow the path shown in the illustration below. It shows two ways to install the Paratrooper strap. Choose the arrangement that works best with your watch and the way you wear it.

Important: Check that the spring bars are fully seated and the watch is held securely before wearing it. If your watch requires removing spring bars to install the strap, use the appropriate tool or have a watchmaker help.

04 / Dial in the fit

Once everything is threaded, put the watch on and adjust the strap until it sits snugly without pinching. Move your wrist through its normal range of motion to check comfort and security. I brace the watch against a stable surface or against myself, then latch the clasp into the buckle.

Don't rush to trim. Wear the strap for a while first, including during normal daily movement. I trimmed mine only after confirming the fit. Trimming is permanent; leave enough material for secure retention and future adjustments.

Fit checks / common questions

Does the strap need to feel tight?

It should be secure, not restrictive. If the case shifts excessively, adjust the fit. If the strap leaves painful pressure marks or limits comfort, loosen it.

Can I cut the extra length?

Only once you're certain of the fit. Cutting removes adjustment range and can affect retention. When in doubt, keep the extra length.

Which threading option is correct?

Both options are shown in the diagram. Follow the one that works with your watch and keeps the hardware comfortable and secure on your wrist.
