What is a shell cordovan watch strap?
Shell cordovan is a dense leather material made from a specific fibrous layer beneath the hide. It is known for durability, a smooth dense structure and a tendency to roll and burnish rather than develop the sharp creases common to many ordinary leathers.
What does reverse shell cordovan mean?
Reverse shell cordovan exposes the back side of the shell instead of the conventional finished face. On this strap, the reverse side of Horween Color 8 is worn outward so its texture, tonal variation and patina become part of the design.
Does reverse cordovan develop a patina?
Yes. With wear, the exposed surface can darken, burnish and collect tonal variation. Those changes are expected and are part of the appeal of a reverse cordovan strap rather than defects to keep the leather looking new.
What is the difference between Horween Signed and Unsigned?
Both use the same reverse Horween Color 8 shell cordovan and titanium hardware. Signed straps are individually selected because the cut preserves a visible original Horween tannery stamp; Unsigned straps do not feature a prominent factory mark.
What watch sizes does this strap fit?
The Redux Cordovan Mission Strap is offered in 20mm and 22mm lug widths. Choose the width that matches the distance between your watch lugs.
Is shell cordovan waterproof?
No leather watch strap should be treated as a waterproof strap. Shell cordovan is durable, but repeated soaking is not its intended use. For frequent water exposure or hard wet-weather use, a nylon mission strap is the better tool.

Scuffs, tonal changes and burnishing are not defects to hide. They are the record. This Horween shell cordovan watch strap is designed to become more personal with time—not remain frozen in showroom condition.
The band is just immaculate, it has a silky smooth skin-side and a super rich leather finish facing out. Titanium hardware is the cherry on top. Ingenious and unique design with flawless execution.
One of the best leather straps I have purchased. Comfortable the minute I put it on and did not need a break in period. The titanium completes the look. An everyday wear on my Sangin Pacifico.
I have many straps, many leather straps in particular. Horween cordovan speaks for itself. But I have never seen the inspiration to do a reverse implementation. Combined with the hide markings placed very carefully with the cut of the strap to frame the watch case, this strap offers fantastic character. The hardware is perfectly designed and chamfered for comfort. The matte finish works great with a Redux watch of course but closely matches the matte finish of other brands as well. The fit at the current length is spot on for a 7" wrist with no tail tucking or shortage for the hardware positioning. From a materials and quality perspective, it is also very fairly priced. You won't be disappointed with this one!
If I could offer one constructive comment; I'd like to see the position of the first keeper moved maybe 10-15mm further from the buckle. This would help to position the keepers at the classic outside of the wrist position with the buckle centering under the wrist. Very minor and personalized suggestion that in no way should convey dissatisfaction with the strap as is.

I think I might wear mine a bit different than most because I prefer to position the buckle on the outside edge of my wrist. I like the watch head closer to the hardware, which I know isn't for everyone. I just find that it reduces and scratching or rubbing and is more comfortable for me.
