Say goodbye to generic, clumsy, and cheap strap hardware. You know your time machine deserves better.
We equipped our signature ballistic nylon strap with bead-blasted, exclusively-designed titanium hardware. We machine each buckle from a solid chunk of titanium so that there are zero weak points. No strap spring bar failure that drops your watch into the abyss.
This is an upgraded ballistic nylon material where we incorporate a tighter weave that provides added flexibility and comfort, while preserving the rugged trustworthy dependability.
We make each strap with laser for precision slices that produce a clean finish. Then we sew the hardware on with matching color stitch thread. The strap has a very slight sheen that contrasts nicely.
The two-piece strap is the traditional style you see most often that’s secured to the watch with spring bars, and does not pass under the watch case. It consists of a tail piece and a buckle side.
Our proprietary design moves the titanium hardware closer to the case, so it sits on the outside of the wrist for improved comfort and titanium visibility, because who wants to hide their hardware on the bottom of their wrist? The excess nylon strap can be tucked right back underneath the loop closest to the watch case.
The main benefit of a two-piece is that the watch sits flush against your wrist.
Specifications:
The beauty of ballistic nylon is that it's self sealing. You can trim off the tail if it's too long and use some gentle heat via lighter or stove burner to reseal the cut edge and prevent fraying.
Care: We recommend placing in a mesh bag and washing in cold water. Hang or lay flat to dry. DO NOT put in the dryer.
This strap will endure constant abuse and anything you throw at it for years to come and along the away it'll acquire a unique personality based on how and where you rock it.
More colors: Olive Drab, Titanium, Desert, Color 8
Did you know? DuPont originally designed ballistic nylon during World War 2 to provide lightweight defense for pilots’ and airmen flak jackets to protect against metal shards or debris from inbound munitions. The researchers developed an exceptionally tight weave, typically basket pattern in 2×2. The thread pattern produces durable construction and limited stretch in all directions.

The SL2 two piece strap is a Redux exclusive design executed with American leather and handcrafted right here in New York City and equipped with our original titanium hardware.
This Wickett & Craig leather is traditionally used for saddles, holsters and sheaths. Skirting leather is painstakingly tanned and drum dyed by hand. These hides boasts a subtle waxy finish from the special treatment.
This Clay color is so close to the leather strap I used originally and many of you asked for, but we weren't able to source at the time. But now with the Wickett & Craig, this turned out so much better. The skirting leather will age nicely and develop a personalized patina based on how often you rock it.
Our strap maker's edge finish is sleek and adds just the right amount of darker finish, but not black, which I personally didn't like. The burnish is a nice nuance that will darken over time to a nice dark brown.
Drum rolling:
COURG crew voted, we listened.
First, TL;DR Features, full notes below (photos for description and not final).
1. We'll add a second layer of leather to line the strap. Whereas many straps use a cheaper leather for stiffening in the second layer, we insisted on using top quality leather for the inner second layer. We think this added expense is worthwhile because it's not just how the strap looks, but how it feels against your skin. I was skeptical at first, because I've been happy with the original raw straps. But when our strap maker said, "That's how I would want my watch strap to be made" -- How could I argue?
2. We'll seal the edge (but not with edge paint -- with a proprietary seal protocol). In test installations of the edge painted straps, I found it to be bulky and difficult to use. Instead of paint, our strap maker seals the edge with a natural wax formulation to ensure durability and preserve the internal leather grain. Once the wax is applied, the strap maker burnishes the edge with a leather working tool that applies heat and pressure to protect your investment in superior quality American leather.
3. Our strap maker will hand stitch the straps with waxed thread with minimal double knots. The vast majority of you voted for the minimal stitch, which is the one I was leaning towards myself.
4. We're going to fly solo with the Redux & Co. symbol stamped into the tail. In our original production of leather straps, we included an additional logo from a production partner and found that many of you would have preferred we left it off. And such, this is also our first foray into making our own straps from scratch. So, that's what we're going to do.
5. We'll finish the tail end with a half hex to complement the gear shape and titanium hardware DNA.
**Please note the buckle we've used is just for the prototypes because we didn't have the type we designed for leather straps on hand:
Photos are representative of the final design but as you know we've been making changes, so just remember these are not exact.

With bonus black American Wickett & Craig leather, American hand made two-piece leather strap.
This is an extremely limited special edition of the COURG A-11 that we made for a squadron of Navy fliers and their crew of 29. We had a minimum order of 50 for the contract, but we still wanted to make it happen for them.
The squadron wanted some specific visual cues taken from their cockpit instrument panels and so we made these painstakingly hand painted second hands we affectionately call the "hazards."
We sold out of these long ago, but recently discovered one watch ready to fly solo. That means we have 21 17 1 left for you. We won't be making anymore of these.
COURG is a way point, which is a navigational tool used by pilots to chart their flight across the globe. Way points are composed of 5-letters and made to be spoken as a word so pilots can quickly transmit their location via radio. This particular way point stands just outside Washington, DC and as you probably guessed -- is pronounced COURAGE.
We chose COURG because courage is a character trait we could all use more of -- choosing to make the right and often difficult decisions even when we know the going will get tough.
The COURG A-11 pays tribute to the WWII American fighter pilots who strapped these timepieces to their wrists and helped lead to the Allies' victory.
When we embarked with the goal to build the perfect timepiece forged for every adventure, we turned to mission critical pilot instruments, which helped the Allied air corp and troops win World War II. We selected the time-tested and proven A-11, a classification of original American designs based on a military spec for aviator wrist watches.
The U.S. military contracted multiple American watch companies to build these watches and called this specification A-11. Three manufacturers produced hundreds of thousands of these for Allied airmen who flew countless sorties against enemy targets. Although originally designed for flight navigation, the excellent design later trickled down to ground troops.
The A-11 production standard used a hand wound 7 to 16 jewel movement. These had smooth sweep and hacking seconds. A plastic crystal covered the lumed hands. The case was 27mm dust and water resistant chromed nickel alloy/brass, in order to save stainless steel for other war purposes.
Manufacturers painted the dials black and used white numerals and markers for high contrast visibility. In addition, manufacturers were not allowed to mark the dial, thus giving the watch a clean logo-less finish.
Watchmakers made many different designs — some with minute railroad tracks (left), others with circular hour markers (center), yet others in 24-hours and with red counterbalance second hands (right).
We translated the iconic A-11 design into a classic 39mm size and implemented a date window at 4PM.
From the moment we first learned about the A-11 watches, we wanted to honor the legacy. So, we preserved all the original specs as a starting point, then upgraded the materials [titanium and sapphire], movement [24 jewel auto], standards [20ATM], and functions [rotating bezel, date].
Titanium encased. Powered by your adventures.
Built from premium materials inside and out with scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, which we've coated with an anti-reflective glare layer. Bead Blasted titanium grade 2, which translates to 50% lighter than a stainless steel equivalent and means more comfort on your wrist, and won't bog you down with unnecessary weight.
The uni-directional titanium bezel prevents accidental rotation, and provides rugged precision machined teeth for grip.
This watch is rated to 20ATM with a screw down crown and streamlined crown guards to protect the movement from external shocks.
The dial is matte black with our proprietary RDXb1 luminous paint that glows a true blue at night, paired with a C3 green second hand and bezel marker.
Our date window cutout is circular to increase visibility of the numeral and add to the overall iconic design, with white numerals on black.

The German aircraft ministry developed designs for their WWII pilots, called B-Uhren -- short for Beobachtungs-uhren ("Observation Watch") and is often referred to as a Flieger. The brother to the Type-A, the Type-B was designed specifically by the Luftwaffe in WW2 for their bomber pilots, who used the emphasis on the minutes for accuracy in bombing runs. The Luftwaffe owned these watches, and the pilots were forced to return them after each mission. These were 55mm!
We translated the legendary Type-B design into a classic 39mm size and implemented a date window at 4PM.

Refined to the core 3-6-9 hour elements, this dial is driven by diver watch functionality where distractions are stripped away to only essential elements that optimize legibility in murky conditions and aid instant instrument readouts. Zero-Hour is the military term for the scheduled time of a mission.

What are these prototypes?
The look I was going after personally was links that would not detract from the case of the COURG. i.e. I wasn’t interested in something overly chunky or ornate or busy. In two words: functional and sleek.
Manufacturing in titanium is super expensive. You can imagine making a titanium strap would be quite an undertaking.
So, I resolved to find the closest design to what I envisioned just so I could at least see if it was in the right territory. The closest one I could find in titanium is from a German company and it turned out to be a flexible / expandable band.
Process, process, process.
I don’t know about you, but I really can’t stand when there’s a gap between a band and the watch case. Is there a term for that ugliness? One of you on IG spotted a shot I took of a way early field test without end links and called me out! Hahaa.
Anyway, after I got my hands on one titanium flex band and felt it was good enough for a placeholder, I knew I’d need endlinks. So, I hand drew an end link design.
Then we translated that into a CAD, and then into a technical file for 3D printing. After some back and forth with our CAD guy, we refined the shape, dimensions and loaded it up for printing.
I printed it in PLA (corn plastic) first and was shocked to find it was a perfect fit on the first go! Pretty rare, as those of you who 3D likely know, or maybe I just need to upgrade print skills.
With the plastic prototypes in good shape, I went ahead and printed them in titanium. Those also turned out a spot on fit. The only thing with the titanium prints is that the laser sintering leaves a kind grainy finish on the surface. Not the worst, but also not matching the COURG finish.
So, once the print is complete, we also need to hand grind the surface closer to smooth to remove the texture. After that, we still have to sandblast each endlink to get the matte finish to match COURG.
What’s included?
Will they fall apart?!
Absolutely not. I’ve rocked this band for many months now, in the oceans, hiking, rock climbing, even rescuing babies (diaper changes can get downright treacherous :)).
Lead time?
Once we have orders in, I'll order the flex bands from Germany. At the same time, I already have a 3D printer nearby who is setup and ready to initiate fabrication of the end links. I estimate we'll have the first batch done in a few weeks.

Downers. (Notes for future upgrade)
FITS WRIST SIZES: 6.25 - 8 inches around.
(Pro tip: You can add more holes if needed. Measure your wrist with a piece of string.)
This one's for all of you who requested a Redux two piece strap!
These hides boasts a subtle waxy finish from the finish.
Drum rolling:
This Rust color in particular portrays a wonderful character that deepens the leather feel when worn and bent. The distressed nature of this oiled latigo leather is a result of Wickett & Craig's special treatment:
"Oiled Latigo is hot dipped in a special mix of oils, waxes and tallows. Reinforced to withstand the elements, the lighters colors have a rich pull-up and display strong character. "
The very special look of this oiled latigo is super difficult to capture, and my photos just aren't doing it justice. This color is a deep brown with a tinge of rust hue to it with the slightest touch of oxblood.
COURG crew voted, we listened.
First, TL;DR Features, full notes below (photos for description and not final).
Image below depict the prototypes in process, and as such meant to help you get a feel for the craftsmanship, this is not the Rust color because we had not received the hides yet while in prototype stage. More photos soon!
In our original production of leather straps, we included additional logo from a production partner and found that many of you would have preferred we left it off. So, that's what we're going to do.
5. We'll finish the tail end with a half hex to complement the gear shape and titanium hardware DNA.
